Would it be looking east down Indian Trail just north of Hillandale Golf Course?

This might be Acadia St., with Club Blvd. ahead and Northgate Park on the right. Ellerbe(e) creek is the culprit.

It does have the feel of Indian Trail, but Indian Trail sits well above the golf course, and I don't think would flood like this. My thought was Northgate Park too, and Acadia street looks about right on Google Maps Streetview. It certainly floods an awful lot through there.

I also believe that it is the Acadia/Club Blvd. address previously mentioned. That is the Bird Sanctuary to the right. The Ellerbee Creek flooding is the marker, not the houses!
We looked forward to playing in the floods in the '60's-'70's. I wonder if this is a Durham-Sun paper photograph by Tony Rumple or Jim Thornton. Both lived in the area at the time.

Yes, the house with the side entrance is 2416. Notice the different heights of the lower sills of the two windows to left of the front door (as seen through the tree branches in the mystery photo).
