Founded in 2001 by Andy Rothschild, a former physician, Scientific Properties is, as of 2013, a real estate development company that has focused on urban adapative reuse projects in Durham, NC. The company provides development, construction management, leasing, property management, asset management, and marketing services for properties.
The company subspecializes in the use of tax credits, as well as specific expertise in the development of both biotechnology and arts-related spaces. In 2008, Andy Rothschild retired from day-to-day operations of the company and returned to New York. Since 2010, the company has been headed by Gary Kueber, another former physician, as CEO, who is also the author and founder of Endangered Durham / Open Durham.
