One of the more interesting Modernist office buildings still extant in Durham - added onto considerably.

Worked as a temp in the building many, many years ago and later sent temps to work there!

I always liked this building. And anyone with a learner's permit in the 60s and 70s liked the parking lot, which I think every kid in North Durham used for driving practice at one time or another. :)

NOT a fan of that structure. I repeat, NOT a fan.

I have to admit that I am a fan of this building; great mid-century styling, clean lines, restrained, unpretentious, neatly tucked in the hillside making its facade modest. Unique to many buildings of the 1950's-1970's, its design isn't out to prove a point, and unlike many, it has always been well maintained.

My dad transferred to Durham in 1957 with General Telephone. Before the building on Roxboro Road was built, the General Tel offices were on Broad Street. But I was able to get some great indoor air-conditioned summer jobs at the Roxboro Road location!

I started my telephone career with GTE in this building in 1979. Later retiring from Verizon in Washington State. Fond memories of GTE. It was a good company then.
