This particular house brings back a vivid memory.  The ' Long ' family lived there between the ' Mays ' and the ' Dennis ' family that was on the corner.  We lived two houses down beside the ' Mays ' and I had taunted a rooster that lived at the ' Dennis ' house.  From my side yard cement porch perch, I could see all the backyards and would jump up and down, hollering at that mean rooster.  He would then start bounding over all the small backyard knolls until he arrived at my cement porch and start up the steps. I would then go in the screen door and stand there laughing at him.  Well, one day as my mother and I were visiting the ' Long ' family and they were all gathered on the front porch talking, I wondered into the driveway.  I was probably seven years old then and not very strong and self-protecting.  All of a sudden this same rooster was standing at the backyard end of that driveway and spotted me.  Before I could move, he was up that drive and began using his long leg spurs to stab my legs.  I screamed and everyone came off the front porch to my rescue, not realizing why he had attacked me.  But until this very day, I have known all this time that you don't mess around with roosters, because they have a very sharp memory and will seek their revenge.  This was another painful lesson in the Edgemont neighborhood I will never forget.
