OpenDurham.org is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of our community. Run by our parent nonprofit, Preservation Durham, the site requires routine maintence and upgrades. If I remember correctly, this and other houses nearby are Sears houses, built using kits purchased from Sears. I'm sure somebody else can fill in the blanks.
