Part of the rapid development of this eastern edge of Trinity Park near South Ellerbe Creek in the years immediately after World War II, the first owner and occupant of this house appears to have been J. Alton Hampton. Listed in the 1947 city directory as "minister of music" at First Baptist Church downtown, Hampton did not remain here long, and 1212 Ruffin had multiple occupants throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
