Robert Bryant House. 1-story side-gabled brick bungalow with 6-over-1 sash windows, exposed rafter tails, and a 2-bay gabled Craftsman porch with a half-timbered gable. 1935-1940 CDs: Robt. L. Bryant owner/occupant (textileworker). 1937 SM.
C Garage. Ca. 1930. Front-gabled garage with German siding.

Robert Lattie Bryant and his wife Hassie built this home in 1932.  They had been living in Chatham County near his family prior to that. The Bryants had 2 young childen die in 1928 and 1931, at which time they moved to Durham.

Robert's father James Fred Bryant had also passed away recently, so Robert's mother Luna moved to Durham when they did and lived at 311 North Hyde Park Avenue, right down the street. She also lived at 107 Young Avenue and 1503 East Main Street, both of which have been demolished.

Robert worked as a footer for Golden Belt Manufacturing Company.  Jobs that a footer might have done include threading the yarn or thread through the needles and rollers of the weaving or knitting machines, repairing the machines, and inspecting the product to detect weaving defects.

They lived in this house until the mid 1940's and then disappeared from Durham records. Hattie lived to be 102 years old. The entire family is buried in Apex Cemetery.
