456 South Driver was built in the early 1950s as an office for the Jay Hosiery Mill - located to the west of this small building. It remained such into the 1980s.

Currently it houses a Goodwill appliance store.

I'm a big believer in historical preservation, but please... someone tear down this dump. It looks terrible!

Really?

GK

Well... replace the windowless "GOODWILL USED APPLIANCES BARGAIN STORE" with a festive "Caribbean Paradise" restaurant and perhaps I'll feel differently ;-)

Shelly you almost got your wish. One of these yhree buildings caught fire two or three months ago.

Unless there was another fire I don't know about, I think you are referring to 2114 Angier

GK

Sorry I was mistaken the fire was at 460 S.Driver in the funeral home. It happened on Feb. 21, 2011 6:00 A.M. I found the info on ABC 11.

Whew... worried I was going to be a suspect in the burning :-0
